The Model Validation team within Van Lanschot Kempen is responsible for managing model risk for the entire bank. This includes performing model validations and maintaining the 'policy house' and 'model inventory'. To take the management of model risk in the field of IRB and IFRS-9 models to a higher level, expansion of the team is required.
You will gladly use your talents for that as Senior Specialist Model Validation at Van Lanschot Kempen. In this position you can quickly develop into a model specialist in the field of IRB and IFRS-9 models. In addition, you can help build an integrated model validation function within Van Lanschot Kempen, where there is an interesting mix of permanent staff and internal and external expertise involved in the various model validations.
Model Validation reports to the senior management of Van Lanschot Kempen to gain insight into the current state of the model landscape. In this role you will be responsible for performing validations, presenting validation reports in various committees, and keeping the 'model inventory' up to date and collaborate on improving Model Risk Management Framework. You will have to challenge the model owners in assessing the models, determine if a model is suitable for use and provide recommendations for improvement where necessary.
Furthermore, you will be engaged in:
- Analyze and review fundamental model assumptions;
- Writing high quality validation reports, and discussing the reports with stakeholders (model owners, senior management, regulators etc.);
- Roll out and create acceptance in the organization of the model risk management framework;
- Help develop high quality validation methodologies with associated software.

In addition, you have:
- Academic level (Masters/Ph.D.) in a quantitative field, e.g. Econometrics, Mathematics, Physics;
- 2 to 5 years of work experience in model validation or adjacent areas (risk management, model development);
- Strong analytical ability;
- Good knowledge of the English language, both oral and written.
